Australia vs South Africa T20I Series: Corbin Bosch Fined for Send-Off

Corbin Bosch

CricDiary: South Africa’s Corbin Bosch picked up his first-ever International Cricket Council (ICC) demerit point after an animated send-off to Australian cricketer Ben Dwarshuis in the 17th over of the chase. Bosch, according to ICC, crossed the line with his celebration.

Bosch pointed towards the dugout, after knocking over the Aussie southpaw, as Dwarshuis trudged off. The ICC deemed it a breach of Article 2.5 of the Code of Conduct which covers actions that may provoke aggressive reaction from a dismissed batter. Bosch admitted the offence and accepted the sanction without a formal hearing.

Bosch was instrumental in South Africa’s emphatic 53-run win in Cairns yesterday. His spell of 3/20 in just three overs, along with Kwena Maphaka’s three-wicket haul, dismantled Australia for 165.

The win was set up by Dewald Brevis who produced a T20I masterclass. His unbeaten 125 from only 56 balls—South Africa’s highest individual score in the format—powered the Proteas to 218/7.

The final game in the Australia vs South Africa T20I series is scheduled on 16 August in Cairns.
