Sourav Ganguly All Set to become President
CricDiary: Former India captain Sourav Ganguly is all set to return as president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). He will file his nomination on 14 September along with his panel. Ganguly will succeed his brother Snehasish Ganguly who is currently the CAB president but has to step down because of the Lodha Committee’s mandatory cooling-off period after almost six years in charge.
It’s not yet clear whether elections will be contested for other posts though a complete reshuffle of the state body’s office-bearers is expected. Snehasish, vice-president Amalendu Biswas, secretary Naresh Ojha, treasurer Prabir Chakraborty, and joint-secretary Debabrata Das will all complete their terms.

Sanjay Das, within CAB circles, is the frontrunner for the secretary’s post. Senior administrator Bablu Koley of Kalighat Club is also in contention. However, given his age of 69, he would only be eligible for one year in office. Fresh elections are expected once the National Sports Governance Act comes into effect.
