Ravichandran Ashwin Ends IPL Career, England Move Expected

CricDiary: India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has officially announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL). In a message on social media, Ashwin remarked, “They say every ending will have a new start; my time as an IPL cricketer comes to a close today, but my time as an explorer of the game around various leagues begins today.”

Ashwin debuted in the IPL with Chennai Super Kings (CSK). It’s the same team from where he would ultimately close his IPL journey. He has played for franchises like Rising Pune Supergiant, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, and Kings XI Punjab at various times.

Ashwin, in his 221 IPL appearances, has claimed 187 wickets at an economy rate of 7.20. He’s the league’s fifth-highest wicket-taker.

In December 2024, Ashwin retired from international cricket, concluding a celebrated career with thee Indian Test team.

Media reports suggest that Ashwin has already identified his next project. He is keen to participate in next year’s The Hundred competition in England.
